During a Friday teleconference call touting, Fedor Emelianenko had some strong criticisms for the UFC in his June 26 bout against Fabricio Werdum at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.

The stoic fighter predictably gave credence to his own affair when he was asked which upcoming heavyweight bout between UFC 116’s Brock Lesnar-Shane Carwin and his own fight against Werdum had more relevance. While doing it, Emelianenko dropped an eye-opening remark.

“I think both fights are very important because you’ve got basically four world-class heavyweights in the top 10 of their sport, but I’m not a UFC fan, So, I would invite all the fans to watch our fight that I believe is more important because we’re not in the UFC.” said Emelianenko.

He, the most sought-after fighter in the sport, did not approve of the world’s No. 1 promotion. When asked, he said, it was a combination of how its fighters carried themselves and how the UFC presented its events.

“What I meant to say was, I’m not a fan of watching their fights, compared to a lot of the commercials, promotion and anticipation of their fights and compared to a lot of the shows that I’ve seen, there seems to be a negativity involved in a lot of their shows, so I’m just not a fan of watching their programs. I think the combination (of presentation and fighter attitude) — in some ways how the fights are presented and the manner they’re presented and also in some ways the actions and behavior of a lot of the fighters from the UFC — it takes away from the sport”, said Emelianenko.

With the UFC last summer, Emelianenko was offered a multi-fight, seven-figure contract, but he declined the offer. With Strikeforce, Emelianenko went on to sign to co-promote with M-1 Global management.

In the UFC, Mirko Cro Cop will finish his career, Dana White has confirmed.

Following Cro Cop’s, his contract has officially ended, which earned the Croatian Submission of the Night honors. Cro Cop suddenly showed he still has the heart and talent to defy his 35 years, having twice been knocked down in round one, battling back to put Barry on the mat before snapping on the rear naked choke.

The demand to see Cro Cop will be high, after such an outstanding performance, but he claimed that his career was over.

He said, “Most of the training proved to me that I am now too old for this, I don’t know about a new contract with the UFC. I believe that I gave this game a lot; I fought with the greatest fighters. For 20 years, I lived this life and now I have no motivation for the fight, no mental strength for all the Spartan training. I am no longer so hungry for victory. I will not stop training, but if I am asleep I’ll stay in bed and practice an hour later.”

The former PRIDE Grand Prix champion will be tried to be convinced to fight again, admits White. However, he insists Cro Cop will not be seen entering any other organization’s ring, if the president fails.

“We’re going to talk to Mirko, and see what Mirko wants to do, Mirko has said to me and Lorenzo [Fertitta] both that he wants to finish his career here, and yeah we plan on him finishing his career here with the UFC ” , explained White.

Between Cro Cop and White, the relationship has never been better, proven by the light-heavyweight’s cheeky plea to a ‘stingy’ White for a Submission of the Night bonus. When his career ends, the fighter himself admits he plans to become an ambassador for the UFC.

“Definitely I will stick around with the UFC. Definitely, Fighting or not, I would like to stay in contract with them. We will see. I will sit with Dana and we will talk “, stated Cro Cop.

Lee Murray, former UFC middleweight, has been sentenced to 10 years in a Morocco prison following his involvement in Britain’s largest bank heist ever, reports the BBC News.

It is believed that in February 2006, Murray has masterminded the £53 million ($77 million) robbery of Kent Securitas depot in Tonbridge, England and after the robbery; he fled to Morocco, where he has a Moroccan citizenship.

With Moroccan authorities, Kent officers began working, when it was established that Murray could not be extradited back to the U.K. to stand trial, as per the article.

Murray went the distance with middleweight champion Anderson Silva at Cage Rage 8 in 2004 and submitted Jorge Rivera with a first-round armbar at UFC 48. In Morocco, he was incarcerated but he was released and re-captured while officials determined where he could be tried.

The 30-year-old Murray is also known for his July 2002 street fight and he survived a 2005 stabbing incident. This street fight involved former UFC champion Tito Ortiz outside a London nightclub following UFC 38.

Murray left authorities key evidence that helped lead to his arrest. Before the robbery, he crashed his car and fled the scene with his cell phone still in the vehicle. A phone conversation about the heist with an accomplice was accidentally recorded by Murray, which was used by prosecutors, as per the BBC News.

From the arrest, Police have recovered £21 million, where 14 Securitas staff was held at gunpoint by the group of robbers.
