Last Saturday night at UFC 114 in Las Vegas, Mike Russow tasted a bit of notoriety in his third-round comeback knockout of Todd Duffee. For the better part of three rounds, he survived on the receiving end of Duffee’s punches rounds until his one-punch answer that sent an out-cold Duffee to the canvas.

Along with the broken arm problem, the 34-year-old veteran had plenty of reasons to quit. When no amount of adrenaline could dull the pain, he knew that the injury was serious one.

“It hurt pretty bad throughout the fight, but I had no choice but to keep fighting, Every time I threw a punch, in the back of my mind I thought, ‘This is gonna hurt” said Russow.

On Thursday, the broken arm was set and casted. Again, in another six to eight weeks, Russow predicts he’ll be able to start training. Russow is anxious for another opportunity to prove himself. He works as a police officer from 5 p.m. to 3 am shift and finds time to train during the day.

For fans during the bout, Russow’s flabby 253-pound physique was another topic. Before transferring to Eastern Illinois’s wrestling program under the coaching of future UFC champion Matt Hughes, he played football for Illinois State University.

At Pride 33 in February 2007, Russow suffered his only career defeat to Russian boxer Sergei Kharitonov.

“Out of the 14 fights I’ve had, I’ve never felt really comfortable standing up, it showed I could get out there and I could take some punches. I felt a lot more comfortable as the rounds went on”, said Russow.

Russow’s resilience secured him a $65,000 pay bump for knockout of the night, it was the biggest win of his career, and it earned him another shot in the Octagon and some more UFC betting opportunities for us.

“I’ve always felt I could do good. I still have a lot more to prove and I think a lot of people don’t really know about me and my style, a lot of people don’t like, Wrestling. Some people think it’s boring…but I think it did help knocking Todd Duffee out, especially because everyone was so high on him,” said Russow.

A bout with the world-ranked Antonio Rogerio Nogueira did not result in a career-changing victory for Jason Brilz rather it turned into quite the financial windfall for the unheralded 34-year-old. The reason he decided to accept the bout was quite understood.

After Brilz and Nogueira main card matchup at UFC 114 “Rampage vs. Evans” ended with a controversial split decision in front of 15,381 on Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and they were awarded matching $65,000 “Fight of the Night” bonuses. 29-28 was scored, from all the three judges and two of them for the favored Nogueira.

Brilz, a heavy underdog outmaneuvered the Brazilian for much of the fight, only to come up short on the scorecards. Nogueira trapped him briefly in a backside crucifix in the final round and swept the Omaha, Neb.-based light heavyweight twice. The win positioned him for an eventual run at the UFC light heavyweight crown. It also was his seventh victory in a row.

Mike Russow waylaid the previously unbeaten Todd Duffee with a crackling right hand in the third round and thereby he landed a $65,000 “Knockout of the Night” bonus. Duffee bombarded Russow for two rounds with a heavy diet of right uppercuts but wound up flat on his back 2:35 into round three. With a record-setting seven-second knockout in August, Duffee debuted in the UFC. In a matter of seconds, his night’s hard work was erased.

After Ryan Jensen coaxed a tapout from Jesse Forbes with a first-round guillotine choke, he pocketed a $65,000 “Submission of the Night” bonus. As Jensen won for the second time in six Octagon appearances, the submission came 66 seconds into round one making it rather interesting for the sportsbooks.

Rampage Jackson could suffer from ‘Octagon Rust’ and much more, warned Rashad Evans. Both the fighters will face each other on Saturday night at the UFC 114 odds. The fight was anticipated since a long time as was on a hold because Jackson was busy with filming the A-Team movie. After a year’s absence from the sport, Jackson is in good shape to return to the Octagon. Evans warned that his experience in the cage will count and nothing can substitute it.

At UFC 107, the duo had a fight and the bout was put on hold.

“It could go one of two ways, One, that he really took the time to let his body heal up, and he’s trained and he feels better than he ever did before. Or another thing that is a very real possibility is that you go in there and you have the Octagon rust and there’s no substitute for going in there and really mixing it up. Sometimes you go in there and it feels like a foreign place. It takes that familiarity, just being in there and getting used to going out there and doing the job,” said Evans.

Ahead of their clash in Las Vegas, both fighters have been trading insults. The outcome of the clash is hard to call as both of them have lost once in the UFC. Although, Evans believes that he will edge past his opponent because of his experience.

He said, “I think stylistically we are kind of the same, we’ve both got punching power, and we’ve both got the wrestling experience, so I think we are kind of even in some areas. But I think I bring more versatility, I throw kicks in there and everything else. I’m going to win, I hate to say what round, but I’m going to stick to I don’t know how I’m going to do it but I’m going to find a way to get it done”.

At UFC 114 on May 29th, 2010, Aaron Riley and Joe Brammer are scheduled to fight in a lightweight bout. These two fighters will face off against each other in a lightweight bout and have had very different careers. They too are adhered to various MMA bout tips.

Joe Brammer, thus far, has fought just 8 career fights. He had never been defeated in his career, prior to his last match. In his first career UFC fight, he faced Mark Bocek, who dealt him his first career loss. This fight against Aaron Riley will give him an opportunity to take his first win in a UFC match and to bounce back from his first loss.

Aaron Riley has been around a while. Aaron Riley has amassed more than 40 fights in his 12-year career, while Brammer has fought just 8 fights in his career. In his 41 total fights, he has achieved a 28-12-1 record. His results in the UFC haven’t been so impressive, though this is a very good record.

Riley has managed just two wins out of 6 total matches, in his UFC matches. As Joe Brammer is a tough fighter, his third win will not come easy.

Joe Brammer has managed to end the fight early in 6 of them, in his 9 career fights. His ability to get the decision out of the hands of the judges and to his opponent will be a benefit for him. In his 7 career wins, he has ended the fight with his opponent in submission 5 times.

At UFC 114 on May 29th, Michael “The Count” Bisping will step into the Octagon to face Dan Miller. Michael Bisping comes into the fight with an 18-3 record while Dan Miller is 11-3. Bisping is coming off of a decision loss to Wanderlei Silva at UFC 110 while Dan Miller is coming off back to losses, to Demian Maia and Chael Sonnen.

Michael Bisping has good striking and a very good underrated clinch game, while Dan Miller is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace, with 7 of his 11 career wins coming by way of submission. Bisping will hope to keep the fight standing so that he can bully Miller around the cage, while Miller will try to find any way at all to get Bisping down to the ground.

Before the Wanderlei Silva fight, Bisping showed that he had power in his hands by knocking out former PRIDE veteran Denis Kang at UFC 105. Miller, before his two losses, had impressed fans by choking out Jake Rosholt with a vicious guillotine choke at UFC Fight Night 17.

When taking all things into consideration, this is a great fight in the UFC Middleweight division. If Bisping is able to keep it standing, he will likely be able to finish Miller or grind out a decision. On the other hand, if Miller is able to get him down on the ground, Bisping could be in serious trouble. Find out live on pay-per-view on May 29th.

UFC 114 features bitter rivals Quinton “Rampage” Jackson against “Suga” Rashad Evans. The fight card has Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at 6′ 1″, 205 lbs. and “Suga” Rashad Evans at 5′ 11″, 205 lbs. The fight will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, May 29th on the weekend of UFC Fan Expo.

Rampage and Evans were scheduled to fight on UFC 107 on December 12th in Memphis, Tennessee to add to the excitement of their rivalry as coaches on the hit tv show “The Ultimate Fighter 10″. Rampage, however, bowed out of the contract to take a lead role in the up and coming major motion picture “The A- Team”. This only added fuel to the fire of their rivalry and Rampage is ready to settle the score. In an interview with Sherdog.com, Rampage, a UFC lines favorite, expressed his emotion by this statement; “I’ve never, ever wanted to knock someone as cold as I want to knock Rashad Evans out. He’s disrespected me so much, for so long. I am so motivated to train my ass off. I’ve moved my coaches into my house already — Rashad should be prepared to see a brand new Rampage in May”.

This fight should be a light heavyweight fight to remember. This bitter rivalry should be nothing short of a legendary fight. Expect Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and “Suga” Rashad Evans to leave it all in the Octagon. This will be a fight for the ages.

UFC 114 is taking place Saturday, May 29, 2010 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. The card features exciting fighters and great matchups.

Headlining the fight is Quinton “Rampage” Jackson against Rashad “Sugar” Evans. This is a 205lb light heavyweight bout. This fight was originally scheduled for UFC 98 and because of Jackson’s film schedule and talk of retirement, the fight was cancelled and later rescheduled. The two fighters butted heads constantly during the Ultimage Fighter show and this will be a great grudge match. Be prepared for some “black on black crime!”

Co-headlining the fight is former light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin verses Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. This is also a light heavyweight bout. This will be Nogueuria’s first fight back since suffering a broken ankle in December. And Forrest Griffin is coming off an embarrassing loss to Anderson Silva and a a split decision win over Tito Ortiz in November. This should be an exciting fight featuring the wild fighting style of Forrest Griffin and the very technical fighting style of Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

Also featured on the main card will be Michael Bisping vs. Dan Miller, John Hathaway vs. Diego Sanchez and Dong Hyun Kim vs. Amir Sadollah. The undercard features fights from Melvin Guillard vs. Thiago Tavares, Todd Duffee vs. Mike Russow, Chris Leben vs. Aaron Simpson, Efrain Escudero vs. Dan Lauzon, Luiz Cane vs. Cyrille Diabate, Joe Brammer vs. Aaron Riley and Jesse Forbes vs. Ryan Jensen.

This fight also coincides with the 2010 UFC Fan Expo, which takes place May 28-29 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. So be prepard for a great weekend at the fan expo followed by explosive fights and MMA betting at UFC 114.
