The UFC crosses the northern border for one of the most anticipated battles of 2011 as Jon Jones takes on Lyoto Machida for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship, in UFC 140 in Toronto, Canada.

Jones is one of the best strikers in the UFC but he is also dangerous if the fight gets to the ground. Machida is also dangerous on the ground and we have already seen how dangerous he can be with his quick feet on the front kick. The fight is too close to pick and it makes for the match of styles all year in the UFC.

Tito Ortiz is quickly becoming a fan favorite after years of being known as the Huntington Beach Bad Boy. Ortiz will take on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira on the undercard of Jones vs. Machida and this is another fight that will not disappoint.

Nogueira knows one speed and he is not smart enough to stop coming at a fighter once he is hurt. Ortiz is healthy for the first time in five years and he is like a new man in the ring. This fight will not go the distance but the fans will get their money’s worth on this one.

Frank Mir takes on “Big Nog” Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in a heavyweight battle. This fight could be the last fight for the loser. Both Mir and Nogueira have looked bad in recent fights and if one of them puts in a poor performance they will be kicked to the curb by Dan White. The pressure is on both fighters.

At one time, MMA veteran Tito Ortiz served as a teacher for Mat Hamill. Hamill was a contestant on the third season of The Ultimate Fighter and trained under Ortiz in the 205-pound weight class. At UFC 121, the two will square off as equals.

Tito Ortiz is a former UFC Light Heavyweight champion and one of the most well known fighters in his sport. His upcoming bout with Hamill will be his 23rd fight as a UFC fighter. He has a career record of 15-7-1 and a UFC record of 15-6-1.

Ortiz, though, is on the downside of his career. He is winless in his last four fights. Since December of 2006, he has lost fights to Chuck Lidell, Lyoto Machida, and Forrest Griffin, and he had a draw against Rashad Evans.
While Ortiz is winless in his last four fights, Hamill has won his last four in a row. He is coming off of a win over Keith Jardine in the season 11 finale for The Ultimate Fighter. The fight was good enough to be named “Fight of the Night.” He won by majority decision.

What Hamill lacks in technical striking skills, he makes up for with power. Six of his victories have come by knockout. Although he has gained a reputation as a stand-up fighter, his best asset is wrestling. He rarely uses it in the octagon, and that may come to haunt him against Ortiz. Ortiz is still an excellent wrestler and isn’t afraid to use it against his opponent.

In this fight, the former student is favored to beat his former teacher. Odds makers have listed Hamill at -170 while Ortiz is at +140.

Tito Ortiz is insisting that he will fight at least five more fights and he has revealed he is not even close to the end of his UFC career. He still has the fighting spirit to go on before hanging up his gloves. Following surgery on a neck problem forced withdraws from UFC 115 bout; Ortiz is planning a November return to the Octagon. To a rapid return to action, Ortiz is now looking forward after having the bulging disc in his vertebrae corrected.

Ortiz said, “I just got the release and for two weeks now I’ve been lifting weights, my weight is back up to 220 pounds. I went from 200 to 220 in a little bit over two weeks. I’m eating a bunch, finally, and my neck’s healing. I get a little tingling sensation down my arms and the back of my neck but I guess that’s normal because all the nerves are reconnecting. I feel really good, though. The soreness I have now is from lifting weights.”

He added, “I haven’t had this kind of soreness in a while. I get a little tingling sensation down my arms and the back of my neck but I guess that’s normal because all the nerves are reconnecting. I feel really good, though. The soreness I have now is from lifting weights. I haven’t had this kind of soreness in a while. July will really be the test for me because I’ll be wrestling and stuff and starting to get into it. On July 1, I’ll start doing jiu-jitsu and start drilling. Nothing live – just drilling to get my body back into shape.”

Liddell believes that, if the Huntington Beach Bad Boy takes on The Iceman, only then he should be allowed back in the Octagon. Ortiz has been beaten twice by Liddell in the past. He lost to Rich Franklin, Ortiz’s replacement at UFC 115.

Ortiz is looking way beyond a swansong clash with Liddell. Ortiz is a former UFC light-heavyweight champion and he insists he has five more fights left in him.

He said, “I have five fights left with the UFC. I started my career with the UFC and I’m going to end my career with the UFC. After these next five fights are over, maybe I’ll take a step back and see what I’m going to do after I defend my world title after I win it.”

Tito Ortiz was born on January 23, 1975 in Huntington Beach, California. “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” is his nickname.

As a sophomore at Huntington Beach High School, Ortiz began wrestling and as a senior finished fourth in the state high school championships. At Golden West College and later Cal State Bakersfield, he became a wrestler. While at Golden West, he won two California state junior college titles.

At UFC 13, Ortiz made his mixed martial arts debut for no money. He, in an alternate bout via TKO, destroyed Wes Albritton. By first round guillotine choke, he lost to Guy Mezger in his next contest. He avenged his earlier loss to Mezger via first round TKO and went on the win three straight bouts.

In his next fight to Frank Shamrock, he lost the bout. After their fight when Shamrock vacated his belt, Ortiz went on to defeat Wanderlei Silva by decision to become champion. He then defended his belt five times. To Ortiz’s UFC light heavyweight crown, Chuck Liddell eventually became the number one contender. Having trained together formerly, they were friends and Ortiz did not want to fight against him. Interim title fight between Randy Couture and Liddell was declared. Ortiz had already lost his belt to Couture at UFC 44 and at UFC 47; Ortiz fell by way of KO against Liddell. He once again lost to Liddell, this time by TKO, At UFC 66.Fighting to a controversial draw against the speedy handed Rashad Evans, and then losing a decision to newly crowned king Lyoto Machida, Ortiz finished off his UFC contract by going 0-1-1. Ortiz chose not to resign with UFC after the Machida fight.

Ortiz was expected to return in August of 2009 but thing were unclear. He on November 21, 2009, faced Forrest Griffin, and lost the bout in Decision (Split) with the record of 15-7-1.
