Nate Marquardt and Yushin Okami will square off at the upcoming UFC 122 event with a lot on the line. Fans will closely watch this bout. The goal of every UFC fighter is to make it to the top of the world, becoming the greatest fighter of their weight class. One of the toughest things to do is getting to the point where you have the opportunity to take on the current champion in order to show what you are made out of. One of these fighters will have that opportunity.

The big news surrounding this fight is that the winner will get a guaranteed opportunity at the title for their weight class. This puts a lot on the line and you can expect both fighters to come out in peak condition in order to capitalize on the opportunity.

Nate has a 30-9-2 record in his career and is a seasoned veteran. He will not be the only veteran in the ring though. Yushin has won 25 of 30 career fights and knows what it takes to beat upper level opponents.

Both of these fighters have been towards the top of the list of Middleweight contenders for an extended period of time and they will now have a chance to prove their case. Marquardt has had a chance before, but he seems to have improved and should be a true contender for the belt this time around.

Marquardt has a powerful striking game that complements his Jiu-Jitsu style of fighting. These skills will go up against the wrestling skills of Okami. Their different styles should bring a lot of excitement into the UFC 122 event.

The most exciting fight of UFC 112 could very well be the lightweight bout between Terry Etim and Rafael dos Anjos. The match features two closely matched fighters with similar strengths. The winner of the fight will likely have their name added to the short list of fighters seen as contenders to B.J. Penn’s Lightweight title.

After losing his first two UFC fights, dos Anjos won his next two and heads into UFC 112 lines with a 2-2 UFC record. His two UFC wins were by unanimous decision. His overall professional record is 12-4 with 6 wins coming by way of submission. He is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and also has a strong Muay Thai background.

At 6’1”, Etim is very tall for a lightweight and his length is one of his biggest advantages. He enters the fight on a four fight winning streak and an overall professional record of 14-2. As mentioned earlier, the British fighter is a dynamic force because of his length, but perhaps his greatest strength is his submission skills. Etim’s current four-fight win streak includes back-to-back submission wins over Shannon Gugerty and Justin Buchholz.

Both fighters have several similarities. Both are young, durable, and good on the ground. Both have backgrounds in Muay Thai so they both have strong kicks. The biggest difference is Etim’s superior reach and height.

Etim’s stronger overall record (14-2 vs. 12-4) and UFC record (5-2 vs. 2-2) have led to him being perceived as the slight favorite. Odds makers have him at -165, with dos Anjos checking in at +135.

UFC 112: Invincible is a mixed martial arts event in the Ultimate Fighting Championship organization. The UFC 112 event takes place in Abu Dhabi, UAE and marks the first time that a UFC event has been hosted in the UAE.

There are two championship matches that headline the event. The main event of the evening for UFC 112: Invincible is Anderson Silva versus Demian Maia. Anderson Silva is on an incredible win streak, and has dominated the middleweight division. Demian Maia is the number one contender, and is an accomplished Brazilian Jiu Jitsu specialist.

The second championship match and co-headliner for the UFC 112: Invincible event is BJ Penn versus Frank Edgar. BJ Penn is a dominant lightweight champion that has defended his title three times in a row. After coming off of a crushing loss from Georges St Pierre, BJ Penn has shown great resolve and is now at the top of his game. Frank Edgar is a relative newcomer, but has earned his shot as the number one contender for the lightweight crown. It will be an interesting match up between the veteran Penn and the rising star Edgar.

Other matchups on the main card involve former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes, and Renzo Gracie from the famous Gracie family of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighters. This exciting match up will display the All-American wrestler versus the heritage of Gracie Jiu Jitsu.

These matches make for an exciting fight card. It is surely one not to miss for UFC fans.
