At UFC 118 on Aug. 28, B.J. Penn and Frankie Edgar faced off once again. At UFC 112, Frankie Edgar beat B.J. Penn by decision to win the UFC Lightweight championship. Leading up to the rematch, Penn had vowed that he would be more aggressive and try to finish Edgar.

Penn stayed true to his word, as he came out very aggressive in the first round. The difference in speed was immediately obvious, though, as Edgar used his excellent hand speed and footwork to move in and out of Penn’s range, out-striking him at nearly every turn. Edgar also managed to take him down, although Penn immediately got back up.

The first 3 rounds played out exactly the same, with Edgar using his speed to get the better of every exchange. While it was obvious that Edgar did not have a lot of power in his hands, his excellent speed made up for that. Finally, in the 4th round, Penn got his first takedown, but was unable to do anything with it. In the last two rounds, Penn took Edgar down twice, but was unable to keep him there for more than a few seconds.

In the end, Edgar’s speed and takedowns were simply too much for Penn. Edgar connected with 142 strikes compared to Penn’s 56. The judges were impressed with Edgar’s performance, as all three judges scored the fight 50-45. This was a rematch that lived up to the expectations, but B.J. Penn simply had no answer for Frankie Edgar’s speed.

Mike Pierce will take the ring at UFC 118 against Amilcar Alves on Saturday in Boston (10 pm ET, PPV).

Mike Pierce has had some success in his three total fights in the UFC to this point. He has won 2 out of 3 matches, including his last match against another newcomer to the UFC. Amilcar Alves is a newcomer to the UFC, but he should be a tough matchup.

Alves is from Brasil and has had a lot of success in his MMA career. He is also a favorite in the UFC betting odds. He has fought 12 professional matches to this point in his career. He has only lost one of the matches and he seems ready to move on to this level of fighting. Pierce will be a good measuring stick for Alves to see if he truly is prepared to take on UFC opponents.

This fight should be a good one, but it will need to be really good if the world is to know about it. This fight will take place during the untelevised portion of the event. If these fighters can put up a good match they may be able to move their careers towards the portions of the event that will bring them more publicity.

Alves will be trying to stop the fight early as he has often in his career. He has managed to win seven of his fights within the first five minutes of the match. He is a master of stoppages and will bring it early and often to Pierce.

In a fight scheduled to take place at the UFC 118 event, Joe Lauzon and Gabe Ruediger will square off. For each of these fighters, this fight will be a big fight as they try to prove themselves against each other. On the preliminary card, this event will take place. In Boston, Massachusetts, UFC 118 is scheduled to take place.

To take on Lauzon, there was originally supposed to be a different fighter. Against Terry Etim, Lauzon was scheduled to fight. Unfortunately, from the fight for unknown purposes, Etim was forced to withdraw.

This means that on short notice, Ruediger will be taking on Lauzon. Whether or not Ruediger will be ready for the fight without proper preparations, there are questions.

Ruediger, in his MMA career, has had a significant amount of success. Out of his 22 career matches, he has managed to win 17. It is likely that he will know how to get himself ready for the big match even with short notice, with this much experience. Ruediger looks to put his skills to the test in the UFC and he has won his last several matches.

Against Sam Stout, Lauzon is coming off of a recent defeat. By decision, Stout managed to take home the victory. With Lauzon, this defeat will not sit well and you can expect him to come with all that he’s got to prove that he can bounce back from a little trouble. As these two solid fighters square off, this match should be a good one.

At UFC 118, Kenny Florian is scheduled to take on Gray Maynard. To take on each other, these two fighters have been rumored to be in line and it will happen soon. In Boston, Massachusetts, the UFC 118 event will take place.

Out of the two fighters, Kenny Florian has the most experience in the MMA realm and he is also a popular in UFC betting odds. He has been very impressive as of late and he has won 13 of his 17 career fights. By way of rear-naked choke, Florian has won his last two matches and he has been a tough fighter to get in the ring with. He has only lost one, of his last 5 matches. Against B.J. Penn, the match was held. B.J. Penn is still in contention for the title and we all know that he was fighting at a top level then. Fighting at a top level then, Florian will be a tough matchup.

To this point, Gray Maynard has had an interesting career. Maynard just manages to stick it out until the very end, while Florian seems to have nearly every fight decided by way of submission.

Maynard, in his career to this point has never lost a fight and he has had some very impressive victories in the process. His win over Frankie Edgar was one particularly impressive victory. Of the UFC, Edgar is currently the lightweight champion.

Maynard will certainly be in line to contend for the lightweight championship against the winner of the Edgar and Penn fight, if he can win this fight.

Randy Couture and James Toney are scheduled to take part in a fight at UFC 118. This fight will be one of the featured fights for the event as it is listed on the main card. This fight should be exciting as we don’t really know what to expect from James Toney coming into this great matchup

James Toney has never fought a mixed martial arts fight in his career and he plans on taking on Randy Couture to kick it off. While it sounds crazy to throw someone who has never fought a MMA match in against couture, it should be understood that Toney can fight. Toney is a former boxing champion and is expected to bring the heat as he squares off against Couture in the ring.

There are many debates as to which type of fighting is more legitimate between UFC and professional boxing. This sort of fight will spark up the debate for viewers around the world as the two leagues meet up.

Couture is a 10-time UFC Champion and has had a lot of experience in the UFC. To this point he has fought 22 of his 28 career fights in the UFC. HE has managed to go 15-7 in his UFC career to this point and will be a dangerous foe.

This may be the most exciting fight on the card as these two worlds collide in UFC 118. Make sure to tune in as these two fighters take on each other in Boston, Massachusetts.

The team-mate versus team-mate debate is doing rounds with Carlos Condit by declaring he plans to fight Georges St-Pierre in the future once he has seen off Dan Hardy.

At UFC 117, after Jon Fitch defeated Thiago Alves, the age-old debate reared its head again, progressing his UFC record to 12-1. When it comes to title talk and, as things stand, such a record is difficult to ignore, as Fitch is the undoubted No. 3 welterweight in the UFC

At the end of the year, with Josh Koscheck set to face St-Pierre for the championship, there is the possibility that AKA team-mates Fitch and Koscheck would have to square off if the latter defeats GSP. However, to share the same Octagon, both men have so far declared their unwillingness.

Condit could find himself in a similar dilemma if he adds Hardy to his casualty list at UFC 120 and he is currently riding a two-fight win streak. The UFC could easily bill such a bout as the last WEC welterweight champion vs. the reigning UFC champion and the Jackson’s Submissions man has the type of ground game to keep St-Pierre honest. Condit admits that fighting GSP is difficult, but it would not stop him getting into the cage or even possibly placing a wager on hims own UFC betting lines.

He said, “It’d be very difficult because I love my camp, I love training with Greg, and obviously Georges is a big part of the team. We’d have to discuss it and cross that bridge when we get there. Put it this way, I’d love to fight Georges because he’s the man, and I want to fight the best in the world. I would love to fight for that belt.”

Stanislav Nedkov and Rodney Wallace will fight at UFC 117. In a light-heavyweight bout, these fighters will take part.

Rodney Wallace, in his UFC career, had a disappointing start. With an unbeaten record, he entered the UFC. Since joining the UFC, he has not had the same success. He has not managed to win, in his two fights in the UFC. In the UFC, this fight will likely decide his fate from here on out. He will find himself in position to keep up at the highest level, if he wins. He will likely find himself fighting in the lower levels of mixed martial arts, if he loses.

It will be the first UFC fight for Stanislav Nedkov. In the lower levels of fighting, he has had a lot of success and now he will have a chance to show his abilities to the world. He has not lost, in his 11 career fights. In 9 of his career fights by way of submission or knockout, he has even stopped the fight early. As he takes on the struggling Rodney Wallace, he will be put in a good position to win.

As it is difficult to know what to expect from fighters coming to the next level, Wallace will have a great chance to win. For example, just like Nedkov coming in, Wallace was undefeated but he has struggled ever since.

On August 7, the bout will take place where we will see which fighter steps up to the challenge on the big stage.

Johny Hendricks and Charlie Brenneman will square off in a bout at UFC 117 on Saturday, Aug. 7. These two fighters have fought before, but on a different type of mat.

These fighters were each college wrestlers in the past. When wrestling at their respective universities they squared off. The winner of that particular fight was UFC betting odds star, Johny Hendricks.

Despite their previous matchup at the wrestling tournament, these fighters will have a clean slate as they face off. The last time they fought there were no gloves present. This fight will test not only their abilities on the ground, but also on the mat.

Each of these fighters has seen a lot of success to this point. They have a combine 19-1 record over their careers and they know how to win fights. Hendricks has fought 3 fights in the UFC, winning each one of them. One of his fights was won by means of TKO and the other two by decision. He has actually never lost a fight over the course of his career.

Charlie Brenneman has fought just one fight in his UFC career to this point. In his 13 career fights he has won all but one fight. He has been able to become a great fighter rather than just a wrestler.

It will be intriguing to see if this fight turns out to be a UFC fight or if they just end up in a wrestling match as they were in years ago. It looks like an evenly matched fight overall.

This November, with Lyoto Machida, Quinton Rampage Jackson appears to be heading for a light-heavyweight showdown. Jackson’s could be a meeting with Machida’s friend and training partner, Anderson Silva, if he gets past the Brazilian.

As Jackson completes the outstanding fights on his contract, his MMA career is understood to be winding down, with Machida is next on the agenda. On Twitter, “The Dragon” confirmed the bout. Before Rampage hangs up the gloves, he wants to avenge defeats to Rashad Evans, Mauricio Shogun Rua and Forrest Griffin.

However, at UFC 117, Anderson Silva is eyeing up another 205lb challenge after he faces Chael Sonnen, to face Georges St-Pierre. Silva, in his last light-heavyweight venture, had destroyed Griffin. UK president Marshall Zelaznik is a big supporter of a Silva/Jackson encounter and Silva will be targeting a major name as his next opponent.

Zelaznik said, “I’d love to see something like that happen. When he fights at light heavyweight, nobody comes away complaining from his fights. He can obviously fight at either weight, but it’s almost as if the anticipation surrounding Anderson Silva only brings out the man we all imagine him to be when he takes these light-heavyweight challenges.”

He added, “There’s such a size thing surrounding the GSP v Anderson situation. If you hang out with Anderson, he is such a big guy. The difference between him and GSP is significant. Obviously that is a factor in this sport, can skill overcome size? But in this situation Anderson has the frame of a light-heavyweight.”

Paul Kelly has warned the American, Jacob Volkmann at UFC, that his ground-and-pound ‘rips people apart’ and he has promised to ‘hurt’ Volkmann.

In San Diego, when Kelly takes on the NCAA Division I wrestler, he is anticipating a ground war. He insisted that Volkmann would be ‘deluded’ if he stayed on his feet. Kelly has a choked-out Matt Veach as an illustration of his own ground threat, although he has promised his opponent that, if it hits the mat, the fight will only just be getting started.

In the build-up to the fight, Volkmann has had plenty to say on Kelly. After going six fights without a UFC knockout, Volkmann questioned the Brit’s punching power. He warned the 29-year-old to prepare for a painful evening, knowing there is more than one way to crack an egg.

Kelly said, “Some people look for the knockout using ground-and-pound, but mine is all about hurting them and breaking their will. Thiago Silva’s ground-and-pound is for the knockout. I just try to break and break and break them, and before long there’s a load of red stuff coming from his head and the guy’s thinking ‘****, how bad is this cut?”

He added, “If you fight a jiu-jitsu guy, you know they’re gonna hold you until they find a limb. But I’m different. That’s why it was so hard to match me up with English welterweights before I entered the UFC. I wasn’t in the top 10 Brits, but I was destroying people. I left them needing stitches. How many did Troy Mandaloniz need? How many did Matt Veach need? So Volkmann can take it to the mat. How long have I spent on my back in my UFC career? About two minutes. Roli Delgado tried it, tried to make it a boring fight, so if Volkmann wants to do that let’s go. Let’s have it. I’ll end up in your guard and I’ll hurt you.”
