Ahead of the August 1 encounter, Jacob Volkmann has been hit back by England’s Paul Kelly, insisting he will leave the Minnesota Martial Arts grappler looking red-faced.

Of Volkmann, Kelly has remained respectful in the build-up to their lightweight clash at the UFC on Versus event, previously telling, “You can’t underestimate Volkmann… he’s one of those guys that when you see him in the gym, you think you’ll batter him. But then in the ring you’re shocked by how strong he is.”

However, in return Volkmann has stoked the fires, the Brit’s emphatic stoppage of Matt Veach at UFC 112, despite questioning whether Kelly belongs in the same ring as him. with the Team Kaobon man still searching for the first UFC KO, Volkmann has also queried Kelly’s knockout power.

In a TKO after Dennis Siver broke his ribs and via submission to Marcus Davis, two career losses have come for Kelly. in San Diego, the Liverpudlian is ready to serve some humble pie to Volkmann.

Kelly said, “The game plan is to smash him clean out. He’s been talking about me hasn’t he? Questioning my punching power and my credibility. So on August 1 I’m gonna knock him out, and then how’s he going to look? I don’t disrespect my opponents. I say what I think I’m going to do, and he can do the same, but he shouldn’t be questioning my ability.”

He added, “ I’ve never done it to him. He said he thinks he’s going to beat me, which is fair enough. But who is he to question my background when I’ve only lost to Marcus Davies and Dennis Siver, when a spinning back kick broke my ribs? We’ll see on August 1.”

On Monday, Michael Kirkham, a 30-year-old based in Fayetteville, N.C., passed away because of injuries sustained during his first professional MMA match. In less than three years, for the second time such an unfortunate incident has occurred in the mixed martial arts community. The 6 feet 9 inches tall, lightweight fighter was knocked out and he never regained consciousness. Two days later, at nearby Aiken Regional Medical Center, he was pronounced dead.

On Monday, the Associated Press was told by Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton that Kirkham died from bleeding inside the brain. On Tuesday, an autopsy will be conducted.

Until state legislators approved a measure to allow the South Carolina Athletic Commission to regulate fights last summer, South Carolina law prevented organized MMA competition. As an amateur, Kirkham held a 3-3 mark and he was trained in tae kwon do and submission wrestling for three and a half years. In Fayetteville, N.C, he operated out of the Fayetteville Independents camp.

As the only other fatality at a regulated event, Kirkham joins Sam Vasquez. Vasquez passed away in his bout with Vince Libardi at a Renegades Fighting Extreme show in Houston.

succumbing to strikes 2:50 into round three, the 35-year-old married father of one battled Libardi in a featherweight contest at the Toyota Center, competing for the first time in more than a year. He underwent the first of two surgeries to relieve pressure on his brain, two weeks after he was admitted. He suffered a massive stroke, went into coma and unfortunately passed away.

UFC 114 features bitter rivals Quinton “Rampage” Jackson against “Suga” Rashad Evans. The fight card has Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at 6′ 1″, 205 lbs. and “Suga” Rashad Evans at 5′ 11″, 205 lbs. The fight will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, May 29th on the weekend of UFC Fan Expo.

Rampage and Evans were scheduled to fight on UFC 107 on December 12th in Memphis, Tennessee to add to the excitement of their rivalry as coaches on the hit tv show “The Ultimate Fighter 10″. Rampage, however, bowed out of the contract to take a lead role in the up and coming major motion picture “The A- Team”. This only added fuel to the fire of their rivalry and Rampage is ready to settle the score. In an interview with Sherdog.com, Rampage, a UFC lines favorite, expressed his emotion by this statement; “I’ve never, ever wanted to knock someone as cold as I want to knock Rashad Evans out. He’s disrespected me so much, for so long. I am so motivated to train my ass off. I’ve moved my coaches into my house already — Rashad should be prepared to see a brand new Rampage in May”.

This fight should be a light heavyweight fight to remember. This bitter rivalry should be nothing short of a legendary fight. Expect Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and “Suga” Rashad Evans to leave it all in the Octagon. This will be a fight for the ages.

This promises to be an exciting fight by 2 of the best Light Heavyweights in the sport. Machida offers a fighting style that noone can come close to while Rua hits hard and is ready for anything thrown his way. The first fight was close and went the full 5 rounds. Will it happen again or will w

In the Welterweight division, the guy everyone loves to hate, the bad boy of UFC, Josh Koscheck fights it out against Paul Daly. Koscheck, a fighter with much to prove, is always an entertaining fighter who gives 100% each and every time. That won’t stop Daly, who is an up and comer with something to prove.

The people’s favorite Heavyweight Kimbo Slice returns in UFC 113, this time taking on Matt Mitronie. Both Slice and Mitronie were featured in The Ultimate Fighter on Spike. Can Slice overcome his aches and pains to prove he has what it takes to be a champ? Or will the hard hitting Mitronie show the world he’s an MMA fighter and not a cry baby?
This promises to be one UFC fans will love! Don’t miss it!
