UFC 123 main event features Quinton Jackson vs. Lyoto Machida
At UFC 123 Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will be taking on Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida in a match up to help determine one of the greatest contenders to the light heavyweight crown.
UFC Betting Odds have Machida as a -280 moneyline favorite and Jackson a +220 underdog.
This will be a case of styles making fights, and the styles in this fight are as different as night and day. Rampage is an in your face fighter, who possess frightening strength, top notch wrestling ability, and enough power in either hand to battle on the feet.
Machida is a quick strike fighter, who has given new meaning to the term elusive. His karate style fighting can throw his opponents out of rhythm, and cause them to over reach, thus allowing The Dragon’s deadly counter striking to be used to full effect. Until his ill fated meeting with “Shogun” Rua, Machida was 16-0.
Both of these men are coming off huge losses and really need to get back on track. Neither one is taking the easy route to victory however. Both of these guys have the kind of dangerous ability which can end a fight in the blink of an eye.
Machida will look to avoid Rampage’s clinch. When Jackson gets a hold of an opponent he has the kind of brute force to maul them into submission. Machida specializes in stinging from the outside, and waiting for the chance to unleash an overwhelming storm of damage.
Whoever dictates the pace of the fight is going to walk away with this win in this one.
