Joe ‘Jitsu’ headlines in a welterweight title bout at Steele Cage 3

Frisco-based Steele Cage MMA, at their upcoming event at Dr Pepper Arena on Aug. 6, announced the names of several fighters to be featured.

D-FW phenom, Joe “Jitsu” Christopher, versus Joey “The Takedown Wizard” Gorczynski, a native of Oklahoma, the main event will showcase, in a welterweight title bout. By the organization, this will be the first championship belt issued.

In Grand Prairie in May, Christopher last fought on the Bellator card held, winning in decisive fashion in front of a supportive fan-base. On to nationally televised MFC events via HDNet, Christopher, who represents North Texas MMA, a mixed martial arts training center in Flower Mound, has also made his way. Christopher, in his MMA career, is 10-3 with one of those losses issued by Steele Cage 3 opponent Gorczynski a 1 1/2 years ago.

For the North Texas native, getting redemption on his submission loss to “The Takedown Wizard” will be no easy task. Going 4-3 in his last seven fights, Gorczynski sports a 17-9 record. Against Hector Lombard, the current Bellator middleweight champ, and Marcus Aurelio, a dangerous UFC vet, were the two of those three losses.

For Steele Cage 3, also scheduled to strap on the leather will be Douglas Frey, who recently fought and won at Bellator 19. Undefeated Joseph Sandoval, who hails from Lubbock, will be taken by him. Other than Shark Fights, based out of west Texas, this will be the first time that Sandoval will be fighting for a promotion.

Ira “Hurricane” Boyd, who fought at Steele Cage 2 and Brad Cox, a D-FW fire fighter will also be on the card in separate bouts.

The card as it sits now looks to be shaping up nicely, although the entire nine-bout event has yet to be announced. Keep checking back for updates to the fight card.

For UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell, the show will also feature a tribute ceremony, which will also be available to meet and greet with fans prior to the first fight.

This should be a really good card and make sure to look for follow up information at the UFC Betting Blog
