UFC 114 Preview: Nogueira vs. Brilz

The much-hyped fight between Forrest Griffin and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will no longer be taking place on May 29 at UFC 114. Griffin announced that he had to abruptly pull out of the fight due to a shoulder injury. Hours after that announcement, with less then four weeks until the fight, Jason Brilz stepped up and agreed to take the fight against Noguiera. There has been a verbal agreement between each camp and a solid agreement to the fight will come shortly. The UFC lines are abuzz with this upcoming fight.

UFC 103 showed Brilz his first loss in the octagon to Eliot Marshall. Before that defeat Brilz was on an impressive streak of 13 straight wins. Defeat, however, didn’t last long for Brilz. In March, he won a unanimous decision against Eric Schafer. Jason now has an MMA record of 18-2-1, with a UFC record of 3-1. He has noteworthy wins over fighters like Brad Morris and Tim Boetsch.

Antonio Nogueira hopes for another victory in the octagon following a November 2009 defeat over power house Luiz Cane from Brazil. Nogueira pulled off this TKO in the very first round. He is on a winning streak with six straight victories. His MMA record is 18-3 with a UFC record of 1-0.
