UFC 112: Nick Osipczak vs. Rick Story
Nick Osipczak and Rick Story are scheduled to fight against each other in an Under Card welterweight bout. The two fighters have a lot to gain from this fight. Both are riding impressive streaks and the winner has a chance to be a Main Event fighter in the future.
Osipczak entered the UFC lines after making it to the semifinals on The Ultimate Fighter 9. His UFC debut came in June 2009 during the live finale of The Ultimate fighter. He submitted fellow cast member Frank Lester in the contest. He then upset Matt Riddle at UFC 105 last November, handing him his first loss.
Story entered the UFC on a 6-fight winning streak. He lost his first UFC fight, however, going down to John Hathaway in a unanimous decision at UFC 99. He put on an incredible show at his next UFC fight. He defeated Brian Foster at UFC 103 in an exciting match. The match was good enough that it was awarded “Fight of the Night.” Story ended the fight by choking Foster from the guard with an arm triangle, and the submission was good enough for “Submission of the Night.” The two bonuses resulted in $130,000 in extra pay for Story.
Osipczak enters the fight having never lost a professional MMA fight. He is 5-0 overall and 2-0 in UFC fights. Story has an overall record of 9-3. After losing his first UFC fight, he has bounced back to win his last two, giving him a UFC record of 2-1.
The striking exchanges will likely be for the good of Osipczak. He has length and is very skilled on offense. However, Story is much stronger and if he can get Osipczak down on the canvas, Osipzak will have a very hard time recovering.
